Aliyah and curtailment of aliyah poster collection, [1925?]-1939.

These posters describe the response and reactions of the Jewish community in Palestine during the period of the British Mandate to the government's curtailment of aliyah. Forms of protest included work and bus stoppages and rallies. The Chief rabbinate issued lists of Psalms and prayers to recite during the crisis. One poster issued by Agudat Israel and the ʻEdah ha-ḥaredit states that they are not participating in the strikes. The posters group noticeably in May, 1930, and again in May, 1939, when the MacDonald White Paper was issued. Posters and forms relating to Yom ha-peḳudah, the Yishuv's protest of the MacDonald White Paper, are in this collection. Two items from the 1920s, issued by the Ṿaʻad ha-artsi le-ʻinyene ʻaliyah of the Ṿaʻad ha-leʼumi, appealing for contributions for mas ʻaliyah, are also included here.
